The Old Market House, Lower Main St,Dungarvan, Dungarvan, X35 NA02, Ireland

An exhibition by I am of Ireland to include work by Eamon Colman, Dominique Crowley, Julie Cusack, Taffina Flood, Ciara Gormley, Maurice Quillinan, and Maria Simonds Gooding predominantly drawing inspiration from the landscape.  In addition works by several artists who have recently arrived in Ireland from Syria and the Ukraine.

Landscape is arguably the single most important theme to have been addressed by Irish painters.  Always popular, particularly in the wake of Edmund Burke’s aesthetic treatise on the beautiful and sublime in nature, and then gaining momentum in the early 20th century, its significance used to convey a sense of Irish identity.  Its importance continues to be felt in contemporary society through climate change, immigration, and not least the significance of the land to give sustenance.

A feast of the mind, body and soul.
