Winners will be announced at 1.00pm from the Festival Stage on the square. The festivals hotly contested junior bakers’ competition offers young people an opportunity to showcase their baking skills and creativity.

creations by 9.30-10.30am for Judging

Introducing our Judges
Chef Shane Smith, an award-winning Irish pastry chef with over 23 years of experience working in Ireland most celebrated pastry kitchens.
Ethna Sheehan, a wonderful home baker and experienced Judge, Ethna has been judge of this competition since its inception. Meadbh Purcell, owner of Sweet Treats in Clonmel, is a professional baker with an exquisite eye for detail.
There will be one category for each age group.

Under 12 Category – Most Creative Cookie

Make and create 4 cookies, 3 for tasting and one for display.
You can enter 4 individual cookies or 4 cookie sandwiches.
The size, flavour and decoration are up to you. Remember keep it
creative.
Please include a description of the cookie including the flavours used.

12 and over Category – Most Creative Sponge Cake

Make and present 1 sponge cake celebrating your favourite fresh fruit.
The entry most comprise of two sponges sandwiched with a filling
of your choice. Your cake can be covered in fresh cream, ganache,
buttercream, or fondant. The cake can be decorated with fresh fruit,
even shaped like a fruit but must contain a minimum of one form
of fresh fruit. All parts of the cake must be edible (no plastic paper
decoration) The size, flavour and decoration are up to you. Remember
keep it creative. Please include a description of the cake including
flavours used.
